With several high profile pass-thru services, including movie channels, included in the Zuku package the offering had to be robust. The playout provider also needed to be able to receive services from almost any broadcaster worldwide
WRN Broadcast’s location, experience and superior technical capabilities were deemed ideal for this project. Content is received via WRNB’s London teleport, international satellite network and global fibre connectivity where it is encoded and then multiplexed into multiple transport streams for onward delivery - via POPS at major international data centres and dedicated fibre - to Wananchi.
The technology used includes a state of the art RF system, Pharos MAM, PubliTronic Playout Servers, Evertz Routing and Glue, DDN Storage System Harmonic Electra 8000 Encoders and new Harmonic Pro Stream 1000 multiplexers.
Richard Bell, CEO, Wananchi Group, said: “By combining WRN Broadcast’s well-engineered broadcast solutions with our own commitment to top quality services we’re able to provide East Africans with the opportunity to watch the best local and international content.”
